No way to guarantee anything will work properly on your PC since you have to understand why we put these settings to guarantee it will work. Skip to "The setup" section if you don't want extra info and just want a quick setup. TL DR: Why are you even here if you want a tl dr lol I'm not the best apex player, but I'm likely one of the best at setting up your pc to run apex/games flawlessly. This has led me to research a lot of these technical things to figure out what works best. In particular, what feels best while running OBS studio, as it reserves a bunch of performance and lowers your fps while introducing a tiny amount of input lag due to capturing the game. I used to stream under the name starflame (same name on twitter) and like to focus on low, stable frametimes for games. My gear EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra, an i7-8700k 4.9Ghz, 3200mhz corsair ram, my monitor is a 240Hz 1440p HP Omen X 27. If it works for you, please post a reply to the thread. I highly recommend you check this alternate setup out. This is not fully tested to work on all computers, but it makes the game feel even more responsive than any other configuration so far. The Alternate setup seems to fully eliminate any stutter the game would normally produce (under 190 fps), compareable to the fluidity of other titles like Overwatch and Valorant. UPDATE: An Alternate Setup has been added to the guide as of. 18/07/21 - Added a guide index and "Why RTSS and low frametimes" section, fixed typos. 19/07/21 - Added paragrah in Misc about G-Sync's Intermittent Black Screen Flickering bug and solution. 21/07/21 - Added "Alternate Setup", which seems to eliminate that janky input lag feel when running Apex.

23/07/21 - Added pastebin link for posterity, as the guide has become a sort of comprehensive repository on how to best run the game. You can now find the guide on pastebin as well, as this got pretty comprehensive and it's nice to have it saved somewhere else. How Apex should be capped, what to configure your PC at, what your monitor is doing etc, it's all a bit much and none of it is documented well. I saw that RTSS new setup thread and thought I'd write a "how to setup apex" guide. The "Alternate Setup" of this guide of running the r5apex.exe as admin completely eliminates the stutter.Ĭomplete Guide as posted on reddit 23-07-2021:

Link to the reddit thread with working hyperlinked URLS:Ĭomparing Apex Legends against other competitive games like Valorant and Overwatch, who also has been updated to enable Nvidia Reflex, there is a noticable stutter even below the 180 fps safe zone. This guide seeks to gather info on, explain and solve this stutter. The "safe zone" is currently around 180 fps. To avoid this, one must cap the fps using a program like RTSS (Rivatuner) to under 190 fps. The game produces a very strong microstutter when it renders faster than 190 fps. This guide was written as a thread to the r/CompetitiveApex subreddit for Apex Legends due to a hypothesis on the PC version of Apex Legends having a core issue of stutter not present in other similar games and no comprehensive guide on running the game flawlessly under realistic load.
